Handmade House
Supporting arts and crafts is one of Biltmore Farms' guiding tenets of community development. In 2008, this philosophy took form in a unique collaboration between Handmade in America, a regional nonprofit with the mission of sustaining and promoting Western North Carolina’s unique craft industry, and Biltmore Farms. The result was the construction of The Ramble’s showcase Handmade House, a livable gallery of the highest-quality work that bridges the gap between practical and artistic design choices.
More than one hundred artisans participated with builders, architects and interior designers to craft the house, which is situated directly adjacent to The Ramble’s Longmeadow Park. In addition to its artistic elements throughout, the home features the latest technology in energy conservation and sustainable design with a HealthyBuilt certification. Examples include geothermal heating and air, low VOC paints, a closed crawlspace, a filtering rain garden, native plantings, and a rainwater collection cistern for irrigation.
The Handmade House is now available for sale. Inquire about this unique home through The Ramble’s Community Sales Concierge.
