Preview Center
Like the opening notes of a great work of music, The Ramble’s Preview Center is a striking introduction to the values of this extraordinary community.
Architectural excellence: A collaboration between Jim Cutler, mastermind behind Bill Gates’s home, and local architect Jim Samsel, the Preview Center demands attention with its distinct elegance that subtly blends natural environment and man-made structure.
Nature preservation: Placed to honor the 19th largest oak tree in Western North Carolina, the center’s design makes a statement about preserving and sharing the oak’s deep roots with the land.
Inspired arts: The art selected for the center reflects the area’s long support of the arts community. Pieces include sculpture by Michael Sherril, whose work is featured in the Smithsonian and the Clinton Presidential Library.
Sustainable construction: With excellent design, renewable materials and careful landscape engineering, the center is a model of sustainable construction. Elements of balance and sustainability are found in every facet of The Ramble.
