While most people know the name "Vanderbilt," they may not know what their familiarity with the name entails, even if they live in Western North Carolina. More or less built around the famed Biltmore House, Asheville is a thriving city full of arts and culture, incredible scenery, and a diverse population of energetic people who are passionate about keeping the region beautiful. And as much as we may attribute our stewardship to our own love of the land, if you live in Asheville, you have to give some credit to the Vanderbilt family.

And now, one national retailer is adding to the mixed-use urban center's appeal: Barnes & Noble.

George Cecil Shares His Memories of Buckspring Lodge


For those of you who are already Ramble residents, you know that Buckspring Cabin is an integral part of the gated community and a long-standing symbol of the Vanderbilt legacy. While it now houses The Ramble Garden Club and provides an intimate and rustic setting for small events and workshops, the cabin was formerly a part of the Buckspring Lodge on Mount Pisgah, where the Vanderbilt's and Cecil's spent their time enjoying Western North Carolina's pastoral scenery and wilderness.
