Dark Skies
With assistance from locally-based Cloos Landscape Architecture, The Ramble’s street light fixtures, patterned after Frederick Law Olmsted’s Forest Hills Gardens community in New York, were fabricated at a local foundry with progressive “dark sky” design features included to help insure that light is directed down toward the ground rather than up into the night sky.
Even the community’s roads were purposefully cantered to minimize extended direct illumination from automobiles.
The Ramble, Blue Ridge Parkway, and the Biltmore Estate all minimize their light signatures so that you can share the stars with your family.
