Enduring Quality

When George W. Vanderbilt arrived in Asheville in the late nineteenth century, he brought a vision of quality and stewardship to Western North Carolina that continues with his descendants today. Founded by Vanderbilt in 1897, Biltmore Farms has evolved from the region’s largest agricultural operation into a preeminent community development firm. Under the leadership of company president John F.A.V. Cecil, the company perpetuates his great grandfather’s legacy through our Five Tenets of Community Development:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Economic Development
  • Quality of Life and the Environment
  • Arts and Crafts

These same principles that are found in Vanderbilts’ historic development of the Biltmore Estate, Biltmore Village and Biltmore Forest guide the company’s modern approach to community building, and all are incorporated into the concept of The Ramble Biltmore Forest.
