Pickleball a Popular Sport That Brings People Together

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in America according to the US Pickleball Association. If you are not already familiar with the details about this popular sport, pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It can be played in singles or doubles and the only pieces of equipment required, other than a court and a net, are paddles and a plastic ball with holes. The rules are simple, and the game is relatively easy to learn.

Pickleball attracts players of all ages and ability levels and that is likely due to the sport’s friendly, social nature. On any given day, you may find a group of Ramble residents enjoying friendly pickleball games on the neighborhood courts. Pickleball can also be enjoyed as a fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players making it an activity that is fun for all skill levels. In 2019, two new pickleball courts were built alongside the existing tennis court near The Ramble’s Living Well Center.

“Playing pickleball in The Ramble has been super fun for me. I believe I was the original promoter of pickleball in the community and through this involvement have met fifty or more people I might otherwise not have met. It is great exercise, fun competition and the setting of The Ramble courts is incomparable,” said resident Rob McKown.

With amenities thoughtfully designed with an active lifestyle in mind, The Ramble has miles of trails suitable for walking, running, and biking, a tennis court, an outdoor pool with lap lane, bocce ball courts, and several expansive neighborhood parks. Additionally, a well-equipped fitness center provides opportunities to have a great workout close to home. Outdoor areas with seating and firepits invite residents to gather with friends after enjoying their activities of choice.
